Southern Indiana All-Star Hockey School

Location-Hamilton Ice Center, Columbus, IN

 

Program Details  This program will emphasize the skills of skating, puck control, passing and receiving with team concepts in a fun and entertaining atmosphere. The program has been developed in conjunction with Columbus Youth Hockey Mite/Squirt coaches and includes:          

·         video taping of skating skills

·         three hours of ice time daily

·          supervised off-ice activity daily

·         power skating and fundamental skills sessions, team play sessions and controlled scrimmages

·         off-ice sessions that include video tape replay, instructional tapes, chalk talks and rules instruction

·         a  “final game” on Friday afternoon to close the school. Everyone invited to come, watch, enjoy!

·         each player receives a camp jersey and individual evaluation

 

Lead Culver Instructor Mike Norton is currently coaching at the nationally acclaimed Culver Academy prep school. Mike is a former Division 1 hockey player and assistant coach for the University of Wisconsin-River Falls and Miami University of Ohio. Mike brings over 20 years of teaching/coaching experience to the school. Mike will be assisted by current Culver hockey players and current senior Columbus Icemen and Bantam players.

 

Goaltenders  The goalies will NOT just be targets, but rather receive special instruction on the physical and mental skills required for the position. All goalies will participate in most of the regular fundamentals drills.

 

Meals  Meals are not available at Hamilton Center. Between ice sessions snacks consisting of pizza and cold drinks are available at the rink. Food can be brought from home. Meals/snacks are not included in the camp fee.

 

Insurance Information  Each player must have his own medical insurance. Columbus Youth Hockey, Hamilton Ice Arena and all camp staff will not be responsible for any medical or dental expenses. A medical release and insurance form will be sent to each participant upon acceptance and should be completed and brought to registration.
